今日は尾州ウールについて取り上げてみたいと思います。
Today, we would like to take up BISHU wool.
皆さんは「尾州ウール」をご存知でしょうか？尾州とは、愛知県一宮市を中心に、愛知県尾張西部エリアから岐阜県西濃エリア一帯を指す地域名です。
Have you ever heard of “BISHU Wool”? BISHU is a regional name that refers to the area from the western of Owari in Aichi Prefecture to the Seino area of Gifu Prefecture, centered on Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture.
その尾州で生産された毛織物が「尾州ウール」と呼ばれているのですが、これはイタリアのビエラ、イギリスのハダースフィールドとともに世界三大毛織物産地の1つに数えられており、国内外の有名ファッションブランドが「尾州ウール」を製品に採用していることでも知られています。
The woolen fabric produced in BISHU is called “BISHU wool”, which is counted as one of the world’s three major woolen production areas, along with Viera in Italy and Huddersfield in England. It is also known that famous fashion brands in Japan and abroad use “BISHU wool” in their products.
クラシックファッション好きの方は、私達を含めてどうしてもイギリスやイタリアをはじめとした洋の服の中心地であるインポートの服地から選びがちですが、日本国内においても良質な生地を生産しているメーカーが存在しているのです。
Classic fashion lovers, including us, tend to choose from imported clothing fabrics, which are the center of Western clothing such as England and Italy, but there are fabric manufacturers in Japan that produce high-quality fabrics.
そのような中で先日、まさに尾州の毛織物が生まれた中心地である愛知県一宮市出身のデザイナーである村橋典岳氏が主宰する「NORITAKA MURAHASHI」の展示会にお誘い頂き、訪問してきました。
The other day, I was invited to the exhibition of “NORITAKA MURAHASHI” presided over by Mr. Noritake Murahashi, a designer from Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture, which is the center where woolen textiles in BISHU were born.
元々私達のブランドのワイドスプレッドカラーシャツに興味を持っていただき、お声がけを頂いたことからコミュニケーションがスタートしたのですが、生地の調達や縫製工場を見つけるのに私たちが苦労をしている状況に「何か出来ることがあれば」と言うことで展示会にご招待頂いたのです。
Originally, he was interested in DRĒIPS’s wide spread collar shirt and approached us. So, we started communication. Seeing that we were struggling to source fabrics and find a sewing factory, he said, “If there is anything I can do,” he invited us to the exhibition.
「NORITAKA MURAHASHI」は尾州産の上質な素材を用いながら男性らしいスタイルをご提案されているのですが、実際に訪問して直接服や素材に触れさせて頂くと、男性らしさに加え、とてもラグジュアリーな雰囲気を感じました。
“NORITAKA MURAHASHI” proposes a masculine style while using high-quality materials from BISHU, but when I actually visited and touched his clothes and materials directly, I felt a very luxurious atmosphere in addition to masculinity.
尾州産のカシミアなども欧州のトップブランドにも引けをとることがないクオリティを感じさせ、触り心地はもちろん、色のでかたや風合いなども含めて、とてもエレガント。
The cashmere in BISHU used in his items is of comparable quality to top European brands, and is very elegant, not only in terms of texture, but also in color and texture.
またTシャツには和紙を原材料に用いた素材など、「クオリティ」のみならず、「サステイナビリティ」も意識した提案となっていました。
In addition, the T-shirt was made of Japanese paper as a raw material, and his proposal was made not only with “quality” but also with “sustainability” in mind.
アイテムのデザインやパターンはもちろん、素材が服に与える影響を改めて強く実感した次第です。
I was strongly reminded of the influence of materials on clothes.
なお、手縫いのオリジナルジャケットの注文用に準備されていた尾州産のウール生地や、カシミアやコットン×カシミアと言ったウール以外の素材も拝見させて頂きましたが、想像を超えるクオリティの高さだったと言うのが正直な感想です。今回は尾州産の生地のクオリティの高さを直接目でみて、肌で感じることが出来る大変貴重な機会となりました。
I checked the wool fabric from BISHU that was prepared for the order of the original hand-sewn jacket, and materials other than wool such as cashmere × cotton, and my honest impression is that the quality was higher than I had imagined. This time, it was a very valuable opportunity to see the high quality of the fabrics produced in BISHU with my own eyes and feel it on my skin.
今後DRĒIPSでも商品の幅を広げることを検討していますが、ウールを用いる機会がありましたら、是非、ご紹介を頂きました「尾州ウール」を選択したいと思います。
In the future, we are considering expanding the range of items at DRĒIPS, but if we have the opportunity to use wool, we would definitely choose “BISHU wool” introduced by him.
